Paper Airplane Debuts at #3 on Billboard Top 200; #1 on Country and Bluegrass Charts

Last week saw the release of the hugely anticipated Paper Airplane (Rounder Records), the first album from Alison Krauss & Union Station in seven years. The band's sixth full length album was met with universal critical acclaim and a busy release week brought them to New York City where they performed the album's title track on The Late Show with David Letterman on CBS and The Today Show on NBC, as well as a 3-song performance on NPR affiliate station WNYC's Soundcheck.

Chart information released today confirms that Paper Airplane has entered the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #3. This is the band's first debut in the Top 5.  The album is also #1 on the Bluegrass Albums Chart and #1 on the Country Albums Chart - a rare feat for an album not in rotation at country radio. Paper Airplane  also debuted at a career best of #11 in the UK's Top 40 Album Charts.

Alison Krauss & Union Station are headed to the west coast for appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 25th at 11:35/10:35 CT and The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 27th, check your local listings for time and channel.
